Recommended Accommodation in Bangkok, Thailand: The Salil Hotel Riverside
I've been to Bangkok five or six times, always choosing accommodation in the city center. This is my first time opting to stay near the Chao Phraya River, and I unexpectedly fell in love with the riverside area. Plus, using the Chao Phraya River boats to get to various attractions is very convenient! It's not too remote, yet you can enjoy the tranquility of the riverside. While staying here might seem a bit inconvenient for Bangkok newcomers, I've completely fallen for the riverside area!
The Salil Hotel has two locations in Bangkok:
- The Salil Hotel Sukhumvit 57 – Thonglor (in the city center near BTS Thonglor station)
- The Salil Hotel Riverside (by the riverside, which is where we stayed this time)
Considering its five-star rating, I don't think it's expensive. The hotel offers restaurants, bars, a spa, and fragrance brands, resembling a small resort. Room types range from the cheapest city view rooms to mid-range pool view rooms and high-end river view rooms. The room style is somewhat elegantly dreamy with a touch of artistry. Overall, the accommodation experience and ambiance are quite nice.
The Salil Hotel Riverside Transportation
It's located right by the Chao Phraya River in Bangkok, truly riverside, where you can see the river right from the hotel! The hotel even has its own pier. It's about a 10-minute walk to the Asiatique pier night market. If you prefer to take the BTS, the nearest station is Saphan Taksin. The hotel offers a free shuttle boat service to and from the BTS station as well as across the river to ICONSIAM shopping center.
It's about a 40-minute drive from the airport to the hotel. If you prefer to avoid potential overcharging, I would recommend arranging airport transfer directly through the hotel (which is what I did here). Once you pick up your luggage, there will be someone waiting to assist you, making it super convenient! It's even faster than calling a Grab ride, and the driver will also help with luggage, providing excellent service!
The lobby reception area is quite luxurious. Although it's not overly spacious, it exudes a boutique-like atmosphere! It has a small yet luxurious and exquisite feel to it.
Check-in time is after 15:00, and check-out is before 12:00. As soon as you step into the entrance, there are reception staff ready to assist you with your luggage and guide you to a seating area for check-in. They'll also offer you a welcome drink. You just need to wait for the staff to come to you to collect your passport and fill out the necessary information, without having to stand at the counter waiting.
Pool View Double Room
The Salil Hotel Riverside offers a diverse range of room types, primarily categorized based on different room views: city view, pool view, and river view. We stayed in the mid-range pool view room, where the window directly faces the hotel pool. Besides having a clear view of the pool below, you can also see what each guest on the opposite side is up to. So, remember to draw the curtains properly!
We stayed for two nights, and the total bill came to around NT$9,000. I only realized upon checking the reservation that I had booked a city view room! It was unexpectedly upgraded to a pool view room, which was fantastic!
Although the color scheme of this room might resemble that of a motel, I found the elegant purple quite appealing! Each room has a different color scheme and pattern, so there's always a surprise when checking in.
The design of the makeup table with a large mirror is fantastic; it's a relief not to have to stand in the bathroom to do makeup. As for the TV, I didn't even turn it on during my two-day stay, so I don't pay much attention to the size of the TV in hotel rooms when staying abroad. After all, it's mostly for decoration, haha!
The bathroom looks very luxurious and upscale! I absolutely love the design with the marble and lighting, making the entire bathroom look like it's glowing. And sinking into the bathtub makes you feel like royalty! It's such a luxurious experience.
They provide disposable amenities such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, shower caps, and razors. The bath products like hand wash, body wash, shampoo, conditioner, and body lotion are from the renowned Thai fragrance brand, HARNN. It's truly a pampering experience fit for royalty! The scent is fantastic and very soothing.
Opening the window reveals the pool, and you can even catch a glimpse of the Chao Phraya River. The pool looks absolutely stunning from the room! I personally think it looks more beautiful from the room view. It's a pity the drone is broken; otherwise, we could have brought it along for a flight.
Upon entering, there's a small kitchenette area doubling as a foyer, equipped with a fridge, microwave, and electric kettle. Drawers contain bowls, plates, knives, utensils, and glassware, making it perfect for heating up late-night snacks. Snacks and treats from the mini-bar are chargeable, but complimentary coffee capsules are provided.
At the bottom, there's a hairdryer and a foldable umbrella, available for free use during the stay. This is particularly great since we visited during Thailand's rainy season, where encountering rain every day is quite possible! So, having an umbrella handy is essential.
In addition to bathrobes, they also provide a set of long pants and long-sleeved loungewear. Isn't that fantastic? The indoor slippers can be adjusted for tightness, allowing for a comfortable fit regardless of foot size. It's such a smart design!
The design of the room key card is quite artistic, with an elegant and elaborate pattern.
The hotel exterior after sunset is absolutely stunning, shining brightly! The following two images are a comparison between a phone camera and a professional camera. No matter how many generations of phones are released, there's always something irreplaceable about a professional camera. When you zoom in, you can really see the significant difference in detail.
After dinner, we were fortunate enough to come back and catch a surprise fireworks display by the riverside. It was such a sudden burst of happiness!
The Salil Hotel Riverside Bangkok Breakfast
We didn't include breakfast in our room reservation. If you opt to add it, it's an additional 800 Thai Baht per person.
The breakfast venue is NAVA Kitchen restaurant, which is also open to the public for regular dining. Therefore, non-guests may also come to dine there, as it serves meals throughout the day!
Dining is buffet-style, and although the variety may not be extremely extensive, I feel that the presentation and delicacy are well thought out. As I've grown older, I don't necessarily seek a wide variety of food; I value deliciousness more!
There's quite a variety of bread and cereal options, which made me happy as I've started to enjoy Western-style breakfasts.
You definitely have to try a bowl of Thai-style pork congee! Having a warm bowl of congee in the morning is so comforting. There are also made-to-order egg dishes and freshly made hot noodle soups available!
Seeing red rambutans, of course, we had to have some! It's a bit unfortunate we didn't get to eat mangosteens this time. However, mangosteens are now being imported back into Taiwan, although they're a bit more expensive there. It's much cheaper to eat them in Thailand if you can find them!
The Salil Hotel Riverside Marble Swimming Pool
I chose to stay at The Salil Hotel Riverside initially because I was drawn to this particular angle in the photos. However, I was expecting more of an aerial shot taken from a 45-degree angle from above by a drone. Nevertheless, I still find this view beautiful and delightful! The marble swimming pool is truly stunning.

The environment and restaurant of The Salil Hotel Riverside
The Salil Hotel Riverside's swimming pool is surrounded by buildings on three sides. Walking towards the riverside, there are two rows of lounge chairs for resting. This area has a resort-like ambiance, making it incredibly relaxing and enjoyable.
The hotel also houses several restaurants and bars: Brix Dessert Bar, Jumbo Lobster, and NAVA Kitchen. Even if you choose not to leave the hotel premises, there are plenty of dining options available. Whether you're craving desserts, cocktails, or gourmet meals, you won't be lacking in choices. It's a luxurious indulgence indeed!
The entrances to these restaurants are incredibly picturesque! Every corner is photo-worthy, and I'm quite satisfied with the overall environment of The Salil Hotel Riverside.

The Salil Hotel Riverside has its own private pier and shuttle boat service, offering guests transportation to and from the BTS station at Saphan Taksin and the ICONSIAM shopping center.

The schedule for the boat services is clearly written, making it very convenient. It's perfect for taking a trip to ICONSIAM shopping center and then hopping on the free shuttle boat back to the hotel. Super convenient!
The transparent glass by the pier is absolutely stunning, reminiscent of an infinity pool concept! It feels like standing by the river with no barriers at all. With the skyscrapers in the background, it suddenly gives off a vibe similar to being in Singapore.
The seating area near the riverbank also has a lot of character when photographed. These are all part of the hotel; we didn't even step out of the hotel premises!
Overall, I'm quite satisfied with the accommodation at The Salil Hotel Riverside. Although the room didn't have a direct view of the river, experiencing such an environment and scenery in the riverside area for the first time felt like a luxury treat! The overall ambiance gives off an elegant and sophisticated vibe, which I think suits my current travel style in my thirties quite well.
