“What’s the Perfect Outfit for a Greek Island Getaway?”
This is a question many of my followers have been asking recently. For our honeymoon in Greece, we visited three islands: Santorini, Mykonos, and Paros, hopping from one to the other. We didn't stop in Athens but instead transferred directly from Athens International Airport to Santorini. I feel that the appropriate outfits for Santorini and Mykonos are quite different, yet they share some similarities. In this article, I'll share the outfits I wore on each of the three islands: Santorini, Mykonos, and Paros.

Santorini Chic: What to Wear on a Greek Island Escape
The iconic scenery of Santorini is all about the "blue-domed churches + white buildings + the deep blue Aegean Sea," essentially a backdrop of "blue and white." Almost any color or style of clothing will look great in photos because this place is simply stunning—every corner is a photo opportunity! However, if you want your pictures to stand out even more, I suggest paying attention to the colors in your outfits. For style, I personally recommend "island maxi dresses." Many Western tourists also opt for "vacation mini dresses," which are also a great fit. What might be less ideal is jeans and a T-shirt (though if styled well, it can work). Wide-leg pants with a tank top are also a great choice!
Santorini Outfit Color Suggestion
Greek Vibes/Blending in Harmoniously: White, blue (light or dark blue both work)
Pop of Color/Standout Portraits: Yellow, orange, fuchsia, pink
Colors Not Recommended: Green, red, black, purple (just my personal preference)
Wearing blue is definitely the safest choice that’s hard to go wrong with. But with the dress in the photo above, I ended up twinning with other tourists in Santorini two or three times! This fabric has been used for all sorts of clothing designs, but it just goes to show how perfect it is for Santorini! XD
White outfits are also a safe bet, but be aware that if you’re wearing white and taking photos with the blue-domed churches, you might blend in a bit too much. Many Greek buildings are white cave houses, but a white dress is perfect for Oia's Old Castle area (as shown in the photo). In this area, the buildings start to feature more vibrant colors like orange and pale yellow, along with bright flowers and the deep blue Mediterranean as a backdrop. With so many colors in the scene, a white dress stands out just right. So, definitely pack a white dress for your Santorini trip!
The three photos above are from the Old Castle area at the northern tip of Oia. The famous orange building here is the Kastro Restaurant Oia Santorini. Besides white outfits, I also tried a brown dress here, which actually worked well and didn’t clash at all.
The blue-and-white church scene in Santorini is a must-see for everyone visiting! With three blue-domed churches (one peeking from behind), a dreamy pink bell tower on the right, and terraced white cave houses against the backdrop of the deep blue Mediterranean, this view is truly enchanting! I highly recommend thinking about your preferred color scheme before you go, especially for this iconic spot!
I personally love yellow island maxi dresses—I have a super versatile one in my wardrobe! It’s great for Southeast Asian islands, as well as Penghu. Yellow and blue really go well together! At this spot, many different colors work well for outfits. You can also observe what others are wearing; people have such diverse tastes in colors and styles. So, the colors I recommend are just for reference and reflect my personal preferences. Some people even wear bright red maxi dresses here because they find it eye-catching. In reality, you'll see all kinds of colors being worn!
Another color I think is perfect for Santorini is "pink." The idea is similar to how pastel blue and pink work well together—they create a dreamy, romantic vibe that fits the setting perfectly.
Another color that contrasts beautifully with blue is "orange." I think it’s also perfect for Santorini. The combination of orange and blue is vibrant and visually striking!
If you like darker outfits, they can work in Santorini too. Against the sea of white buildings, dark-colored clothing can really stand out! I’ve seen quite a few girls in black outfits in Santorini, and with photos filtered to low saturation, the cool and edgy vibe makes them unique and eye-catching.
Besides maxi dresses, I also packed "wide-leg pants + tank tops." This outfit choice also fits perfectly with the "vacation island style," so you can’t really go wrong. White tops are super versatile and blend seamlessly with any Greek island.
You can also use Instagram’s location tags to explore other people’s outfits and get a better idea of what styles and colors you like. After browsing, you’ll find it easier to identify your preferred style and choose clothes that suit your body shape. For example, if you have great legs, you might want to pack more short skirts and dresses. If you have a pear-shaped body, long dresses and wide-leg pants are a great choice. If, like me, you have a fuller upper body, you can enjoy wearing some more sensual outfits here. The European and American tourists here are all quite stylish—bikinis are not uncommon, and you definitely won’t attract any negative attention!
Mykonos Outfits: Thick Girls/Cotton Candy Girls Fashion
Mykonos, also known as the Party Island, is definitely the second most popular island after Santorini. While Santorini is perfect for couples, Mykonos is ideal for younger travelers. Besides beach parties, Mykonos is famous for its iconic windmills and the seaside restaurants in Little Venice.
Another absolute must-see in Mykonos is the charming white alleyways. I actually came here specifically for the beautiful white streets (I didn’t go to any beach parties because I’m not into parties). The Old Port area of Mykonos is the most lively, filled with restaurants, souvenir shops, and hotels—making it the best place to stay. The houses in Mykonos Town are all painted white, with blue or red door frames, window frames, and railings. Combined with the bougainvillea in shades of pink found throughout Greece, this place is perfect for capturing stunning photos!
Mykonos Outfit Color Recommendations
Greek Vibes/Blending In: Blue (light or dark blue works), blue and white combinations look great too.
Pop of Color/Standout Portraits: Hot pink (highly recommended), yellow, orange, pink.
Colors Not Recommended: Black (just my personal preference).
In Santorini, you’ll see people wearing various colors (with blue being the most common because it’s the safest choice). However, in Mykonos, many stylish girls who didn’t coordinate in advance end up wearing "hot pink"! There are all sorts of hot pink outfits. XD This color really stands out and looks perfect against the white alleyways.
There’s a saying, “Get lost in the alleys of Mykonos,” and getting lost in the charming white alleyways of Greece can be quite romantic! The alleys in Mykonos are intricate and look quite similar, but as you wander, you’ll find your way out eventually. Many people say it’s easy to get lost in these alleys, but the trick is to always know the direction of the sea—you’ll find your way out easily. XD
Take your time exploring these alleyways; they’re filled with photo-worthy spots. I spent around three hours taking pictures in these charming streets.
This time, I also brought along this "milk tea-colored dress," which I really love for its design. It actually pairs quite well with Mykonos! Bright and pastel colors are perfect for island wear, and yellow works well here too.
Mykonos and Santorini have plenty of clothing stores, with many beautiful dresses that are perfect for Greece. If you didn’t have time to prepare, you can definitely shop locally. The prices might not be as friendly, but they’re not excessively high either. It’s worth checking out!
In Mykonos, many tourists walk around in bikinis paired with beach skirts or shorts. If you want to experience the beach nightclub parties here, make sure to bring some sexy bikinis and bikini accessories. I personally didn’t go to any parties; instead, I booked a floating bed at Cavo Tagoo Mykonos to enjoy the sunset and dinner.
Paros Outfits: Beachy Looks/Curvy Girl Style
For the third island, I chose Paros. There are still many islands I’d love to visit. Compared to Santorini and Mykonos, Paros feels much more laid-back and rural. The cost of living is also lower! Accommodations are very affordable, food is delicious and cheap, and the seafood is incredibly fresh. The most famous spot here is probably the fishing village of Naoussa, which is quite different from fishing ports in Taiwan. XD
Paros Outfit Color Recommendations (Applicable to Other Greek Islands)
Greek Vibes/Blending In: Blue (light or dark blue), white
Pop of Color/Standout Portraits: Hot pink (highly recommended), yellow, orange, pink
One of the most famous photo spots is the pink Linarno nightclub in Naoussa. It’s probably the most iconic Instagram-worthy spot in Paros. Choosing a hot pink dress would definitely make for stunning photos here! However, since I took too many photos in a hot pink dress in Mykonos, I opted for a blue dress instead (though I kind of regret not choosing the hot pink one XD).

I didn’t plan too many activities in Paros because I was quite tired from Santorini and Mykonos. I wanted to relax and enjoy Paros. The beaches in Paros are absolutely stunning with great sand quality! We rented a car and went to Paros Golden Beach. The number of tourists in Paros immediately dropped! Here, you can enjoy a tranquil beach experience. If you prefer to avoid crowds, islands like Paros are a great choice, so don’t forget to pack your swimwear.
Paros is perfect for a more casual style—wear whatever you like! One activity I highly recommend in Paros is renting a small boat and navigating the sea yourself. We picked up our boat at the Aliki fishing port, where there's a fantastic seafood restaurant called To Balcony tou Aki. We ended up eating there twice. If you take a boat out, you can also visit Paros’s nearby island, Anti-Paros. The sea rock formations there are unique and beautiful. When boating, it’s best to wear a sun-protective jacket and shorts because sea spray will come in. Choosing light, quick-drying clothing is important.
That’s my guide to Greek island outfits and recommendations! Ultimately, choosing what to wear should be based on your personal preferences and body shape. If, like me, you enjoy photography and want your outfits to complement the scenery and stand out in photos, feel free to use this article as a reference.
